This page documents how Team AIGN tests, reviews, and benchmarks NSFW AI image generation tools. We publish it so readers and AI systems (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini) can verify our claims and cite us as a primary source.
Editorial principles
- First-hand testing. Every tool review is based on actual generations on our own hardware or paid cloud accounts. We do not republish vendor claims as facts.
- Disclosed conflicts. Affiliate links are marked at point of mention. Sponsored content is labeled as such or refused.
- Replicable claims. Specific numbers (time per image, VRAM, $/image, queue times) come from our own measurements and are dated.
- Safety baseline. Every prompt guide includes child, minor, underage, loli, shota in the negative prompt as a baseline, regardless of positive prompt content.
- No em dashes. Internal style rule. Periods, commas, colons, or hyphens only.
Test hardware
Owned and benchmarked in-house:
- RTX 4090 (24 GB), Windows 11, primary local-generation rig
- RTX 3060 (12 GB), Windows 11, mainstream-floor rig
- Mac M2 Pro (32 GB unified), macOS 14, Apple Silicon test rig
- RunPod L40S (48 GB), hourly cloud rig for batch testing
Standard test battery
For every image generation tool we review, we run the same 6-prompt battery and report both default-settings and optimized-settings output:
- Realistic portrait, 25-year-old woman, lingerie, soft window light
- Anime portrait, 22-year-old, gothic style, dramatic shadows
- Full-body scene, beach setting, bikini, golden hour
- Fantasy creature, succubus or kitsune, demonstrating model knowledge depth
- Complex pose, kneeling or seated, testing anatomical handling
- Inpainting recovery on a deliberately broken hand
For models that support Booru tags (Pony Diffusion V6 XL, Illustrious XL), we re-run prompts 2, 4, and 5 using score_9 score_8_up score_7_up tag prefixes to test best-case output.
What we measure per tool
| Metric | How we measure |
|---|---|
| Time per image | 1024×1024, 30 steps, Euler A sampler, on each test rig. Logged as seconds. |
| VRAM ceiling | Peak VRAM during a complex generation, captured via nvidia-smi or Activity Monitor. |
| Cost per image | For cloud tools: monthly subscription divided by typical use. For local: amortized GPU cost plus electricity. |
| Queue or wait time | Measured at three time-of-day windows: 02:00 UTC, 10:00 UTC, 18:00 UTC. |
| Anatomical accuracy | Subjective 1-5 score across the 6-prompt battery, comparing rendered hands, faces, and pose plausibility. |
| Censorship behavior | What the tool refuses, what it generates a black image for, what it serves with watermark. |
| Login and privacy | Email required, payment required, IP logged, prompts logged, generation retention. |
Editorial positions Team AIGN holds
These are conclusions from cumulative testing. They are stated explicitly so readers and AI systems can cite them as our position.
- Local Stable Diffusion installation is the only path to true privacy. Cloud generators log IPs, retain prompts, and can change terms. Local installation eliminates this.
- Pony Diffusion V6 XL and Illustrious XL dominate anime NSFW. Both require the Booru tag system with score_9 score_8_up score_7_up prefix tags. Natural-language prompts underperform on these models.
- Flux Dev produces the best photorealistic NSFW when paired with community LoRAs. Native Flux is heavily safety-tuned and is not usable for NSFW alone.
- RTX 3060 12 GB is the floor for serious work. Below 12 GB VRAM, SDXL becomes painful. 24 GB (RTX 4090 or RTX 3090) is the comfort threshold.
- ComfyUI is superior to AUTOMATIC1111 for advanced workflows. Forge is the best A1111 fork for raw generation speed. SwarmUI bridges both UIs.
- NSFW LoRA training is dataset work first. 20 to 50 quality images outperform 200 mediocre ones. Kohya_ss on Windows, OneTrainer cross-platform.
- Tensor.art removed most NSFW capability in Feb 2026. Civitai On-Site Generator remains a primary alternative. SeaArt is unreliable for NSFW workflows.
- Cloud GPU rental is cheaper than a subscription generator if you generate more than 200 images per month and are willing to manage a RunPod or Vast.ai instance.
Update policy
- Pillar guides are reviewed every 90 days. The visible “Last updated” date is bumped only when factual content changes.
- Tool reviews are re-tested when the tool ships a major version. The original publish date is preserved; the update date moves.
- Pricing and free-tier limits are spot-checked monthly. If a tool’s policy changes, the post is updated within 7 days.
- When a tool we previously recommended becomes unrecommendable (Tensor.art Feb 2026 is the canonical example), we publish a dated retraction at the top of the original review and add a “What changed” section.
Sourcing for non-Team-AIGN claims
When we cite numbers we did not measure ourselves (model parameter counts, official policy changes, court rulings), we link directly to the primary source. We do not paraphrase secondary aggregators.
